Reasons To Rekey Locks Providence

By Kenneth Olson

Many people are not aware that you can actually rekey your locks. More often than not, when people want to have control of the security of their home, offices or property, what they normally do is change the bolts. This is however not necessary as all one needs to do is to Rekey Locks Providence.

Not everyone has bad intentions especially those that sell the home to you or even a contractor. It would be a terrible idea to issue keys to a new home with the intention to harm or steal from the new owners. The action is bound to ruin the reputation of the seller and is also bad for business as word will get around.

It would be foolish to trust that everyone has your best interest at heart. It is almost impossible to judge the character of a person just by a few moments of interaction or by how you relate the few times that you have met. Some are good others not so much and even if the chances are low of dealing with an unscrupulous individual, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Should the culprit found be someone who had access to the keys, you are likely to lose out on any payment from the insurance company due to negligence. If you had taken time to change the bolts of your home or had them re-keyed then you would not have had to deal with the misfortune of a break in. The insurance company will therefore lay part of the blame on your doorstep.

In instances where the home is new, contractors normally have the master keys to the home. As much as they surrender any keys they have to the home, there are still some pins and springs within the lock that can be opened by anyone with a master key. Rekeying gets rid of any pins that can be opened by a master key.

Rekeying is pretty much the same as replacing the locks as the aim is to make sure that no other key can open the bolts other than the one you have. As the term suggests, replacing the locks is changing them entirely. Rekeying, on the other hand, is basically working on the existing bolts by changing the pins and springs within it so that no other key can unlock the bolts other than the new key.

When you rekey your locks, you are able to rest easy as you know that anyone who does not wish you well and tries to access your home will set off the alarms. It is easier to hide for cover in such a case as you hear them coming. You are able to better protect yourself and your loved ones from any attack when you have a head start.

When you do get a new home do not take security for granted no matter how much you trust the previous owner or contractor. Make sure to have all the bolts in the home rekeyed to guarantee the security of every member of your family wherever they are within the house. If you find replacing all the locks in the house expensive, then he should settle for rekeying as it is much cheaper.
