Steps For Doing Concrete Floor Polishing Yourself

By Patricia Jones

Most people want to have a floor with great finish to show off to their visitors and this is usually achieved by using concrete. But there are some things you must do to keep their best appearance all the time like regular cleaning and occasional polishing. Doing this does not only make the surface look good but also extend its longevity when done properly.

Several steps are there which you can do to achieve yourself that polished look if you own the proper tools and have time. Doing this saves you money but energy and effort must be given willingly for this purpose you are going to work on. But you may hire some companies instead that offer services for Florida concrete floor polishing.

To polish effectively the flooring yourself, you would need to work through stages and utilize polishing disks having different textures. If these steps are properly followed, you would be sure that the appearance you wanted to have is achieved. First step is in cleaning it through sweeping away the dirt and debris with broom and gather then remove them with vacuum or dustpan.

Next, is to mop the flooring so have a bucket prepared which is filled with water and a mild detergent added in it. Mopping the surface lets you clean residual dust and remove any mild stains that have been attached to them. Make sure to give some time for it to dry before you start to polish or wipe it off instead.

You may now start to polish using a disk which has a 500 measurement of coarse grit that is effective on getting rid of these rough areas plus stubborn stains. Start in one end then work forward and side by side systematically until you have covered its whole surface. When working with these disks, use circular motions.

Switch to a disk with fine grit then and still use circular motion in working the entire floor and avoid overlapping the circles. Any stain left must be lifted while polishing using fine grit and your surface should look clean and uniform. This is because all those stains and those rough patches are cleared in doing this.

Finally, use the finest grit available for a disk, like 1500, and this would give your floor a shine similar to a glass. Any stains or blemishes at this point should be gone totally because this is meant to get the beautiful finish you want. Overlapping is needed in this stage and use circular motion still while making sure the circles overlap.

Apply concrete floor polish with the use of floor grinder then do it over your whole surface as extra shine will be given with this. This would result on achieving beautiful finish you prefer and their longevity is extended with your help. But be careful in using the grinder and follow the instructions provided properly.

But if you have not the time to do these things, hire professionals instead to let them do the work. Search the internet or request recommendations from the people you know. First, research on them before selecting one.
